2018 Basketball

The Carrollton Boosters basketball program is a recreational intramural program for boys and girls aged 5–12 as of August 31, 2017. The program will be coordinated by our new Basketball Commissioner, Robbie Hughes, who can be contacted at
basketball@carrolltonboosters.org . Robbie will be assisted by former commissioner Jonathan Robert.

The program consists of the following leagues, to which registered players will be automatically assigned based on their age as of Aug. 31, 2017:

5-6 mixed*: Children who were 5 or 6 on Aug 31, 2017
7-8 Boys: Boys who were 7 or 8 on Aug 31, 2017
9-10 Boys: Boys who were 9 or 10 on Aug 31, 2017
11-12 Boys: Boys who were 11 or 12 on Aug 31, 2017
5-8 Girls*: Girls who were 5, 6, 7, or 8 on Aug 31, 2017
9-10 Girls: Girls who were 9 or 10 on Aug 31, 2017
11-12 Girls: Girls who were 11 or 12 on Aug 31, 2017
*5-6 year old girls can be registered for either the 5-6 mixed league or the 5-8 year old girls league.

Note: These age groupings represent a change from prior years’ groupings, as we have redefined our age groups.

All players are drafted onto teams which play a schedule of games from mid-January through late March, with a break for Mardi Gras. All games will be played at Newman School, either in the Tuohy gym on Danneel St, or in the Palaestra on Jefferson Ave.
The 5-6 Boys play on Saturdays, and the 7-8 Boys will likely play some of their games on Saturdays. All other games will be played on weeknights, plus the 11-12 boys will also play on Sunday afternoons/evenings.

Coaches will schedule practices after the teams are drafted. 5-6 Boys generally do not practice outside of their Saturday game time slot.

To register, click on the registration tab and follow the procedure. The fee is $125 for your first child, plus $100 per additional child. If registering more than one child, be sure to register all children before checking out. You may pay on line by credit card, or you may choose the option to send a check, but note that your registration is not considered complete until fees are paid. Players who are not registered will not be graded or drafted onto teams.

For assistance with the registration process, or for payment assistance, contact Alan Godchaux at 352-8290 or

All players, except for the 5-6 Boys, must be graded. Grading will be held at the Newman Tuohy gym on Danneel St. in early January, beginning as early as Tuesday, January 2. Consult our web site later in December for the grading schedule. You will also be notified by e-mail.
By registering your child, you agree to having him or her placed in a player draft, during which any of our volunteer coaches may pick him or her onto a team.  Carrollton Boosters does not guarantee placement of any player onto any particular team, or onto a team with any particular other player(s).  The only exceptions are that coaches get to pick their own children, and that siblings are placed on the same team, unless otherwise requested by their parent/guardian.  After players have been drafted onto a team, registration fees will not be refunded or credited, except in cases of illness or injury.

When registering your child for basketball, please consider coaching your child’s team. Carrollton relies on volunteer parents to coach its teams. Coaching is an excellent way to not only develop a greater appreciation for basketball, but to also form a special bond with your son or daughter as the season progresses. In order to coach, simply answer “yes” to the question when registering, then also register yourself as a coach, and we will contact you.

Another fun way to contribute to the program is to sponsor your child’s team. Sponsors select the team’s colors and name, and may include a business name and logo as well. The fee is $275 and can be paid with your child’s registration or can be paid by a separate check. Simply answer “yes” to the sponsor question when registering your child. Later, after you have completed the registration, return to our web site and click on the “basketball sponsor form” tab in order to submit your sponsor info, or just e-mail your info directly to
Your sponsorship will be attached to your child’s team unless you specify otherwise. Contact Missy McLellan at
or Betsy Laborde at bblaborde@gmail.com
for more information about sponsoring a team.

When registering, please also consider making a tax-deductible contribution to one or more of the following funds:
Capital Fund - contributions to this fund are used for continued additions and improvements to our fields and facilities.
Scholarship Fund – contributions to this fund help allow Carrollton to include financially underprivileged children in our various programs.
Security Fund – contributions to this fund help Carrollton maintain a visible security force at all our venues.
